Instructions for Installing Church SoftwareThe following five steps will guide you in installing the software you download from our web site. Print out this page and use it after you download the program(s) you want. All three of the software packages on our web site are contained in self-extracting files. The file names are:
These instructions apply to all three programs. Perform all of the steps for one program before installing the others. 1. Download the program(s) you want
to a folder on your computer. Be sure to note the name of the file you're
downloading and the location of the folder where it is being stored.
2. After the download is completed,
use Windows Explorer to view the contents of the folder where the file
was stored.
3. Find the file you downloaded (CHDBCOM.EXE,
CONCOM.EXE or OUTCOM.EXE) and double-click on the filename in the right-hand
window of Explorer. The program will extract the files needed for installation.
A DOS window will appear on your screen during this extraction process.
You will need to close this window by clicking on the X in the upper right-hand
corner of the DOS window when the extraction process is finished..
4. Return to Windows Explorer and locate
the batch file that was extracted in step 3. The file will be in the same
folder where you saved your download, and will be named one of the following:
CHDBENG.BAT for the CHDB Church Membership Database CONENG.BAT for the CONXX Contributions program OUTENG.BAT for the OUTREACH Prospect
program.
5. Double-click on the BAT file found in step 4. This will launch the setup program and install the software to the proper directory. After the installation is complete, all of the files used in the installation process will be erased except for the .EXE file you downloaded and the .BAT file that ran the installation. You may erase the .BAT file as it is no longer needed. Keep the .EXE file on your hard drive in case you ever need to reinstall the software. Always back up your data files before reinstalling the software. Your data will be erased during the installation process. You will use the Restore Data function in the software to copy your data back into the program. After you've completed the installation,
there will be an MS-DOS icon on your desktop that will launch the program
when you double-click on it.
Don't forget to print out the Help Tips from the opening screen of the software (press F10). That is the only documentation that comes with these programs. |
